Introduction to Never Resting Bodhisattva
The Predecessor’s last name was Chen, and her first name was Hongzhen. Thus, she was commonly known as Senior Chen. Senior Chen’s given name was Yingru, and her Tao name was Yuanzhen.
Senior Chen was motivated to learn and had an inclination for filial piety since her childhood. Senior Chen’s family was quite wealthy, and her parents raised her with kindness and love. Influenced by her father, Senior Chen received Tao when she was 18 years of age.
She then received an instruction from Guanyin Bodhisattva and gained a more profound understanding of Tao. Consequently, she decided to become a vegetarian and to devote the rest of her life to Tao propagation. Senior Chen practiced the loving kindness of Guanyin Bodhisattva and won the respect of many people.
Senior Chen made a vow in 1947 to propagate Tao in Taiwan. But she became ill after being there some time, so she decided to return home. A miracle from the Heavenly Mater that occurred during her trip strengthened her faith, and she accompanied Elder Han to Taiwan the following year.
Senior Chen initially encountered tremendous difficulties and was even persecuted by the government. Suffering from slander and countless hardships, she learned to overcome all obstacles with perseverance. Starting from Yunlin County, the Great Tao spread widely domestically and internationally.
Senior Chen subsequently established numerous charitable organizations, conferring innumerable benefits on society and providing assistance to countless people. As a result of her compassion and efforts, and through her tireless work on Tao propagation, Senior Chen helped an enormous amount of people in transforming their lives for the better. She fostered innumerable community mainstays with persistence and sincerity. Her spirit was admired by both Heaven and the people, and as a result, she carried the torch of the spiritual heritage to begin a new phase in Tao propagation.
Senior Chen completed her holy mission and returned to heaven in 2008, and she was bestowed the Heavenly Title of Never Resting Bodhisattva by the Heavenly Mater. Senior Chen’s holy spirit continues to inspire people everywhere, and her merciful vow and compassion will always bring light and hope to the world.
